President on two-day official visit to Cuba

President Mahinda Rajapaksa will pay an official visit to Cuba today and tomorrow.

An MoU will be signed between Sri Lanka and Cuba during the President’s visit, Mass Media and Information Minister and Cabinet Spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella said.

He said it will be signed between the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute for International Relations and Strategic Studies of Sri Lanka and Raul Roa Garcia Institute of International Relations of Cuba.

The minister said Cabinet approval has been granted to a Cabinet paper presented by Human Resources Senior Minister D E W Gunasekara in this regard.

The MoU’s objective is to develop academic cooperation through joint research and exchange of information between the two institutions.

The minister was addressing the weekly Cabinet press briefing at the ministry yesterday.
