The Geological Survey and Mines Bureau is planning to introduce a licensing scheme to permit people search for gold and other precious metals in the Kelani Ganga bed said Bureau’s chairman Dr N. A. Wijayananda.

He said the Mines and Minerals Act has provisions to issue such licences for mining “precious metals in the calibre of gold”.
