No rise in milk powder prices

Major milk powder importers request for price increases for milk powder products came under review of the pricing committee of the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) yesterday.

Cooperatives and Internal Trade Deputy Minister Neomal Perera said the requests were considered and the CAA after studying the market factors and world milk powder prices were unable to justify the applications made by the importers and hence the requests for increase of milk powder was not allowed.

The Deputy Minister confirmed that the max retail price approved by the CAA of Rs 598 per 1 Kg Pack and Rs 244 per 400g pack will continue on full cream milk powder.
